Chant sprang up in all cultures. It is the human heart reaching, the music of magic and mystery and longing.

This concert is a riveting immersive experience of the heart-music of Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, Muslim, Hindu, African, Native American, and other traditions, from ancient to modern.

While all works are not chant, they are all inspired by its tone and ethos. A number of pieces are sung a cappella, while others are accompanied by string ensemble, oboe, recorder, piano, organ, and percussion.

We are delighted to partner with Modern Marimba, adding their unique textures and rhythms. The shared passion of mallet artists Tihda Vongkoth and Steph Davis, Modern Marimba aims to showcase the talents of people of color, as well as LGBTQ+ persons and others who have often been marginalized. As a non-profit, they offer concerts, education, and interactive events.
